Lava Pit

"If you ever drop your keys into a river of molten lava, let'em go, because, man, they're gone"
Jack Handey

This page is a collection of miscellaneous interests and tidbits I didn't know where to cubbyhole elsewhere. Why the title of Lava Pit? Well, it has to do with a mountain bike ride with a buddy of mine on July 4th, 2003. We biked up Ute Creek and down Cascade Creek, near Mt. Evans, and we had stopped for a breather by a very deep mine shaft. The conversation came around to what if one accidentally dropped their keys down the shaft- well, let's just say that's a whole 'nuther story and leave it at that.

Blizzard of December, 2006 - This turned out to be the first of 3 blizzards to hit Denver in 3 consecutive weeks. We've not had this much snow in a long time.

Oreodont - Prehistoric fossil I found in the plains of northeastern Colorado circa 1971.

Soapmaking - Soap recipes, molds and other soap making projects.

Solar Cooker - Plans and pics of a solar cooker I am building.
